Success Story: Chief Goes on an Adventure
After going missing, a pitbull named Chief was quickly found and reunited with his family thanks to his FidoAlert tag. A stranger who found the dog simply scanned the QR code on the tag, which instantly connected them to the family, turning what could have been a prolonged and distressing search into a happy reunion within just a few hours.

Chief is a big baby at heart. He’s a pitbull with a big personality—loyal, fearless, and always ready for an adventure . Recently, one of those adventures turned into every dog parent’s worst nightmare.
It all happened in a flash, as many of these situations do. A door that didn’t quite latch. A distraction that lasted only a few seconds. And just like that, Chief was gone.
We searched everywhere—around the neighborhood, in nearby parks, calling his name until our voices went hoarse. We handed out flyers, posted on every local Facebook group that we could possibly find, and even drove through town at night with the windows down, hoping for a bark or jingle of his collar to no avail. Chief had disappeared.
It felt like a lifetime. But just a few gut-wrenching hours later, we got the text that changed everything. Chief had been found.
A stranger had spotted him wandering up the road about a mile from our house. They saw his collar, noticed the FidoAlert tag, and scanned the QR code on the back. Instantly, they received our contact info and reached out. Within minutes, we were on our way to bring our best friend home.
When we got to the meet up spot, Chief was in perfect health and spirits and a weight we didn’t realize we’d been carrying was lifted completely.
Thanks to FidoAlert, what could’ve been days—or even weeks—of heartache turned into a short-lived scare with a happy ending. That simple tag and the kindness of a stranger brought our dog home safely, just a few hours after he went missing.
We could not be more grateful for FidoAlert, and we use this story as a reminder of how important pet ID and protection really is.
