How is FidoAlert free? What the woof!?

We stand firm behind our commitment to never charge a pet owner to help their lost pet find its way home. That money, instead, could be used by a pet owner to offer a lost pet reward. While our service is free to all pet owners it’s not free to us. Manufacturing customized pet tags, mailing them with paid postage and sending lost and found SMS text alert messages are significant expenses to our company. Even still, we are committed to fund this social mission.

How? We are funding this service by using revenue generated by our parent company, and completely separate core business, PetScreening. Our Founder & CEO had a long-term vision to create the first nationwide text-enabled lost and found pet alert system that would be no-cost whatsoever to any pet owner. He knew offering a free service to pet owners would be a significant expense to the company. Our Pack believed in his vision and made it our social mission. After several years of hard work and patience, PetScreening now has the financial means to support our Founder’s vision and our Pack’s social mission. The first nationwide text-enabled lost and found pet alert system that is free to all pet owners is now a reality. Woof & Meow!

My pet is already microchipped. Do I still need this?

Every pet should be microchipped. Our no-cost solution is an additional layer of protection to the microchip that every pet should have. When every second counts, responsible pet owners want every solution possible working together to help your lost pet find its way home. While no solution guarantees you will find your lost pet, we know sending text alerts provides the fastest means of communication possible and will significantly improve your chances of being reunited as quickly as possible.

Is my personal information visible on the tag?

No. FidoAlert tags do not require any personal information to be publicly visible. All your confidential personal information is protected behind your pet’s unique Fido ID. This prevents bad actors and creepers from looking at your pet’s tag to obtain your phone number. Plus if your phone number changes you can update it in our system without requiring a new pet tag.

I want to keep my contact information private. Can I still be contacted if my pet is missing?

Yes. You will be contacted if your pet is missing while keeping your information private. When your pet is found and your pet’s finder initiates a FidoAlert, then the pet finder’s contact information is immediately texted to you and all of your emergency contacts - all without ever sharing your personal contact information with the pet finder. The text alert we send you and your emergency contacts will include your pet finder’s first name and telephone number so you can work together to help your lost pet find its way home.

My pet doesn’t always wear their collar. What if they go missing without their tag on?

We strongly recommend that your pet wears a collar and our FidoAlert tag as often as possible, but our service can still help if your pet goes missing without a collar and our tag.

If the unthinkable happens, then you can quickly and easily initiate a lost FidoAlert within our network. When you initiate a FidoAlert for your lost pet we send a text alert to everyone in our alert network within a few miles of your reported lost location. The text alert includes your pet’s primary profile photo, other important lost details, and a link to a digital flier. Anyone in our alert network can easily share the lost pet alert link on their social media, too. If (hopefully, when) someone finds your pet they can follow the lost pet alert link to report your pet has been found so you can be reunited as quickly as possible.

My pet is my travel companion. What happens if they get lost and we are not at home?

We are a nationwide service. Whether you are a few miles or a few hundred miles from home you and your pet are still protected. If your pet goes missing then initiate a FidoAlert using the lost location. We will send a text alert to everyone in our alert network within a few miles of your reported lost location. The text alert includes your pet’s primary profile photo and other important lost details in a digital flier. Anyone in our alert network can easily share the lost pet alert link on their social media, too. If (hopefully, when) someone finds your pet they can follow the lost pet alert link to report your pet has been found so you can be reunited as quickly as possible.

If I live in an apartment complex or condo, will my neighbors receive an alert if I report my pet missing?

Pets are the safest when more pet owners are enrolled in the FidoAlert network. By spreading the good word to all your friends, family and neighbors to register their pet(s) with FidoAlert you will be a pet hero. After registering then they, too, will be notified within our alert network.

A few weeks back, our dog snuck out of our yard and before I even knew he was missing, I got a text from FidoAlert that my dog had been found and it gave a phone number to call to pick him up.

I recommended all my friends and family get for their pet (they have one for cats as well).
